Which field is which side

Two naming schemes meet in this object, so it is worth reading the pairing off once. On trxusdt:

FieldValueSide
ask_asset_idtrxbase — the asset being traded
bid_asset_idusdtquote — the asset it is priced in
base_precision1decimals for the asset in ask_asset_id
quote_precision5decimals for the asset in bid_asset_id
price_precision4decimals for the price

The fee is taken in the asset the member received — the base asset on a buy, the quote asset on a sell — and each trade shows it in fee and fee_asset_id. Rates depend on the fee group set for your account, so the values here are yours: read them from your own GET /api/markets, and do not assume another merchant's. They apply to orders you place with Create Order; auto-conversions are charged at their own rate.

Validate order size before sending

min_volume and min_amount let you check an order in your own code instead of discovering the refusal after sending it. Compare against whichever field you are about to send: min_volume for an order priced by volume, min_amount for one priced by amount.

The two are denominated differently — on trxusdt above, min_volume is 100.0 TRX and min_amount is 150.0 USDT — so do not compare one against the other.
